Next from Kip Moore: Damn Love

Kip Moore's next radio single is "Damn Love", the title track to his upcoming fifth studio album which is set for release on April 28th. The song was written by Jason Gantt, Jaren Johnston and James McNair, and the only track on the album Kip didn’t write.

He says the song is about all the different feelings about love. “’Damn Love’ is a song about the reasons why you hate love, why you love love and why you’re confused by it,” says Kip in a pres release. “It’s everything encompassing that word and all the complexities that lie within it.”

Thinkin' Problem - David Ball - 1994

SW small Logo I can clearly remember the first time I heard this song.  I was doing mornings at WPCV in Lakeland, Florida and the Music Director, Dave said to me and my co-host John, "You gotta hear this!"  It started, and 10 seconds in I was hooked.  I get it, this is not everyone's cup of tea. This is big-time traditional country by a regular guy who was about 40 at the time trying to get a foothold in country's most gigantic decade.  But David Ball knows how to sing a country song.  If real country is your thing, then this is a dream for you as this is a traditionalists work or art.  The hook is so distinct, and so catchy, it stood out on the radio like any good song does. This was a big hit, going to #2 on the charts, #1 in Canada, sold over a million, and got a Grammy nomination as well. His chart run was not very long, but this album is magnificent, I feel it's one of the best of the 90's.  I love a good honky-tonk bar song once in a while and this is one of the best ones ever.  Take a listen, "You gotta hear this..."

They'll try again tomorrow...

The Guardians/Tigers game in Detroit on Monday was rained/snowed out. The two teams will try a double header on Tuesday starting at 1:10. This can be a relatively usual occurence this time of year as the seasons are still in transition. Let's just hope that this doesn't end up being like last season!

The Guardians had to cancel 8 games in just Apil and May! Mostly fo rain, but at least one due to sickness. It just seemed like every other game was getting cancelled last year! It really almost became comical how often it was happening. Fingers crossed we don't see the same thing this year and we will actually see some baseball out on the field.

Next From Luke Combs: Love You Anyway

Luke Combs had asked fans to help him decide his next single, it was up to "Love You Anyway" and "5 Leaf Clover", and the fans have spoken. His next single will be the former of the two choices.

He announced the winning song at his show in Nashville over the weekend telling the crowd, "So, about a week and a half ago, I guess. I announced that I was going to let you guys decide what my next single was going to be at country radio. And we had a vote. You could vote on Love You Anyway or 5 Leaf Clover. Which one you wanted me to put out to the radio and it was real close. I think it was 51%-49% So it was neck in neck. But the song we’re about to play you right now is the winner. I got my friend Wes from Flatland Calvary on the fiddle playing for us. So yeah, this is my next single at country radio it’s called Love You Anyway."

Luke said about his next radio single, "Love You Anyway is a song that I wrote on my porch with Dan Isbell, Ray Fulcher and I had been on stage Valentine’s Day of 2020 right before COVID happened. And my wife was sick and was on the bus. She was out with us, but she was on the bus, I believe, and I didn’t know at the time if she was in there or not. And so as I was introing another song, I said, you know, I don’t I don’t know if you’re in here, but I love you anyways. And my buddy Dan had wrote that down and we ended up writing it a few months later."

And so it begins...

It all began Sunday afternoon. I cut the grass for the first time this season. I'll tell you...BOY DID IT NEED IT! My yard was starting to look like the Matthews family jungle!! I was trying to put it off as long as possible (as were my neighbors) but we couldn't wait any longer.

Even though I have a small Cuyahoga Falls-sized yard and can cut everything in 20-30 mintes, I still don't really enjoy it. I think it's because it feels like it's hard to fit in with my schedule. I will say though, after I was done, it looks NICE! We put down some new grass in my backyard last year, and then fertilized. Now, the grass is really green and thick! Hopefully it'll stay that way as long as possible before things turn brown :(.

It REALLY IS the end of an era!

This phrase may get overused, but in this case it's true! This Sunday, April 16th will mark the final performance for "Phantom of The Opera" on Broadway in New York! It opened January 26, 1988...that's a little over 35 years!!!! I was still in diapers when it opened! That is an amazingly long run.

This is by far my favorite musical production of all time. My family went to see it in Toronto in the early 90s, but I was too young to sit through it so I stayed behind :(. I have seen it several times at Playhouse Square, I've seen it in Pittsburgh, I've seen the sequel stage play (and loved that too). Everytime it comes to town, I make sure to get tickets to go see it. I remember going to see the 2004 movie with Gerard Butler and Patrick Wilson in theaters, and I own that movie on DVD. I have the Royal Albert Hall stage performance from PBS on VHS.

It is among the longest running plays in history in the world. That is a huge accomplishment! All good things must come to an end...
