MOVIE PREVIEWS - New This Week!

New Flicks This Week!

Annabelle Comes Home

More Annabelle.  This is clearly the season for scary movies as there is no shortage of them out right now with more on the way.

Always great to get a jolt at the movies on a late summer night.  We've been down this particular road before a few times before, but we seem to want more.

Yesterday

This is on my list as one of the most anticipated movies of the summer. What a great idea in theory.  Seems no one alive knows who the Beatles are in this movie and our star sings and performs all of thier songs and gets worldwide acclaim doing it with the masses thinking they are his songs.

This has the chance to be really, really good with a solid script and done by skilled film makers.

Tribe - Day Ball!!!

The past three years I have been a 20-game season ticket holder with the Indians.   I have chosen the Monday and Wednesday package for various reasons, one being the abundance of Wednesday afternoon games.

I am not a Cubs fan in any way, but they got one thing right for a long time.  For decades at Wrigley with NO LIGHTS they played only day games there.  Now with lights, they do both.  Be clear, I am not saying we should take the lights off Progressive Field, but I do love me some day baseball.   I love the 1:10 start.  I know, you'll say because I get up at 2:30 AM to do the show is one of the reasons, and you would be right.  But the day games I've gone to this year and past years are the best.  I wish they would have more day games!

Nice weather, sun, and an overall good feeling buzzes through the park that's different than a night game.  Maybe it's a different person that can go to an afternoon game.  Could be many are thrilled to not be at the office, and maybe the sun has something to do with it too. Could be too you're not stressing to get there on time battling rush hour traffic on the way to the game.  There's a different feel, and vibe that you can actually feel.  And the attendance has been good too at these games.

Love Live Day Ball!  GO TRIBE!!   (BTW  we won yesterday  5-3  GREAT game too!)

Proud To Support Them

This week, I had the chance to play in a great golf outing at the wonderful Bunker Hill Golf Course in Medina.  It was a fundraiser for a terrific agency in Medina and Lorain County called The LCADA Way.  They are here to help those who are affected by drugs and addiction.

As I learned they are great people who do amazing work. And it was good to support them and our sister radio station WNWV 107.3 The Wave as they were the radio sponsor.

Kudos to the very professional staff too at Bunker Hill who ran a fantastic outing, and had the course in tip-top shape.

We here at WQMX are proud to support charity golf tournaments, so let us know if you would like us to maybe be a part of your charity outing.

Waving Off The Buckets

Had a fantastic time at Cedar Point this weekend.  I hadn't been there in a few years.  Many changes, and new rides, Windy and I really had a fun weekend as we stayed the night at the Breakers as well.   Cedar point is on point, as it gets better in every way, every day.

We rode tons of rides including a bunch of coasters.  But one thing still has not changed over the years with me and the park.   I can ride any roller coaster on the planet, but I don't like to ride the "buckets".   Or as I call it the thing on the string.   I just can't get past the wire maybe snapping thing, and going over the towers thing.  Makes my palms sweat - feet too.   I get it, it's ridiculous for me to have this as a phobia, as kids and families happily and safely fly high on the wire every day of the year with no problem at all.

I know, it's the most boring ride on earth, slowest too.  I understand logically it's probably the safest ride in world, but I'll stick to the Valravn -

For....Some...reason...

“Because, You Are My Song…”

Music is a powerful part of our lives.  We have favorite songs, and most of us like songs, and have songs from all kinds of music on our playlists.  Music is our daily go to, but sometimes we use music for different reasons.  Yes, as much as we all “love” music, we “use” it as well.  Much of it depends how our lives are going at a certain moment, or how we are feeling that day.

When hurting, our tendency is to turn to songs that go where we land on those dimmer days.  When we are in a party mood, we go that way, and so on.  But there are also songs that speak to you in any moment, in any setting, any day.  Those songs that were in essence, written especially for you.  And no matter what is going on with your mood or in your world that day, to the yay or nay, you pause.  Invariably, it has to do with another person who is special and resides in your heart.  It’s about that someone who is walking through the world with you still.  It’s “your song.”

You know the one I’m talking about.  The one that vibrates deep and messages that part of your brain that was sleeping seconds ago.  The one that makes you blank stare out a window, or awakens a powerful vision, the one that smooths out your heartbeat –  instantly.  That happens because I feel “that” person lives within that song somehow.  They breathe in it, stride through it, and their heart supplies the beat for it, and it’s all seemingly   –  for only you.   Because magically, somehow it is.  That’s how deep a song can go, because it’s “your” song.  And even more than that, it’s because of who they are.  They are your song….

They even write songs about this subject.......

MOVIE PREVIEWS - New This Week!

New movies out this week!

Toy Story 4

Well this is certainly NOT going to be a flop. This is going to be a gigantic hit, and seemingly everyone is excited to see this.  This franchise has an incredible universal appeal.  Everyone had, or has toys.  Everyone relates, and everyone loves the main characters.

There are some new characters here, and enough time has passed to make this fresh yet again.

Anna

If you watch this trailer, it may may become painfully clear to you, that you have seen this movie 100 times before in one way shape or form.

This will get lost in the shuffle.

Child's Play

Chucky  -   These kind of slasher movies always seem to find a nice opening weekend, and then comes the huge exhale.

The wave will come in, and then go out.....way out....

TBT - When The Earth Was Cooling.....

Social Media has made it fun to look back on Throwback Thursdays and see how we used to be.  It's maybe run its best race, but I think it is cool at times to look back and see a different version of ourselves.   And for some of us, as far back to when the earth was cooling.....

Studios Have Changed In 38 Years!

The changes in me, and my career have been many, and as I look back, it seems that was not me, but it was. And in essence, still is.

Missing The Long Shadows

Still not complaining, just commenting.   But I do miss the long shadows that the sun can cast. There just has not been much sun lately.  Have you found yourself, as I have found myself, in disbelief that it is late June?   It just hasn't felt very June-y.  And thinking back, it didn't feel very May-y either.  Or April-y.

But it is, and we have to think that the best of Summer 2019 is still ahead. And I have tried to keep the perspective, that is it not yet summer.  It is still technically Spring.

Hang in there. Summer is coming.

Man, This Is Getting A Bit Old....

This is getting a bit old.  I am not one to complain about much of anything, as it generally solves nothing, and I am a results guy.   But this rain is really getting a bit old.

I lived through a two and half year drought in Florida when I worked there and I swore then I would not ever go off about rain again. Droughts are terrible.  But this ain't real great either.  And being honest, droughts and flooding are about tied on the worse-meter

Rain can be frustrating, and the lack of outdoor stuff, and of course golf gets old, but this too will pass.  All I ask is this.  Can we just get back to a regular pattern.  Some sun, some warm, some rain

You know. The basics.

WYNN QUOTES - Share The Same Air

“It’s OK To Be Breathless….”

Being breathless or speechless is not always thought to be good, but I feel differently. Since being speechless generally is not a problem for me, (sheesh) let’s defend breathless instead.  There are times we feel breathless.  First, the literal form.  You’re working out, running, jogging, hiking, whatever, doing good for your body and health.  Being breathless is always tough to weather in those moments, but deep, hard to catch breaths eventually give way to far more gentle ones.  And then there’s the good feeling afterward that ensues from a good physical burn.

There’s also a more casual form, like rooting for your favorite team, good or bad.  The feeling when the Indians were on the verge of a World Series title in 2016, the Cavs winning it the same year, or the Browns leaving you breathless weekly, when we all wish NFL games were 59 minutes long and not 60.   The adrenaline that flows through you, the feeling that you are part of something communal.  And when it passes, you feel better knowing that you cared about something deeply enough to let it temporarily take over your body.  This is a good breathless as well.

Then there’s the kind of breathless only another breathing soul can provide.  I saw a social media post a couple weeks ago that stated something like, “The sight of him/her, still makes me breathless after a long time….” (paraphrasing).  And I thought, what a great way to feel and publicly state.  We all should be so fortunate to feel breathless in the presence of the one we hold close.  Is it a romantic synonym for being extremely happy?  Well of course.

 champ

But what on earth is wrong with that?  It tells you just how alive you really are, and confirms you are, where you are supposed to be in the world.  Those moments when you share the same air.

Breathe deeply.
