Dolly's Duet

Backstage at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, Dolly Parton spoke with Access Hollywood about her admiration for Taylor Swift, what songs will be on her rock and roll album, and who will appear on that album.

Steve Perry confirmed the news of the "Open Arms" duet via Twitter. I can't wait to hear it! We'll keep you updated as to when to expect that album, but in the meantime, Dolly will release her greatest hits album Diamonds & Rhinestones on November 18th! Click here to preorder.

I love apple slices for a snack or with a sandwich for lunch. I've never packed them and taken them with me because, well we all know, they start browning after a short while. I've only enjoyed them at home, right after slicing them so that I could consume them before oxidation takes over and makes them look unaPEELing (see what I did there?). By the way, this is called enzymatic browning, if you are looking to start some dinnertime conversation.

I've heard of adding lemon or lime juice, I think this is good when adding to a fruit salad. But just for packing in a lunch, I like the saltwater tip:

  • For one apple, add 1/2 tsp and 1 cup of cool water (not too cold but doesn't necessarily need to be room temp), stir until the salt is dissolved.
  • Add in your apple slices, I swirl them around and then make sure they are all facing down into the water since that is the part that browns.
  • After 10 minutes, give them a rinse and then pat dry. You don't have to rinse them, but I like to get rid of the salty taste, if I can.
  • Then pack them or put them in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator. Legend has it they will stay fresh for up to a week, but they never last that long in my house!

Tyler Hubbard, Acoustic!

Tyler Hubbard went solo this year and I am really loving his first solo single, "5 Foot 9". Then, Tyler recently announced that he relased an acoustic version of the song, and that he might even like it better than the original.

I do love when artists release acoustic versions of their songs, especially when they are one of your favorites. Hearing it stripped down to just vocals and just an instrument or two, is always a unique listening experience. That other take on the song versus the studio version. So, let me take a listen myself and see if I agree with Tyler.

I do! This version, in my opinion, makes it sound like even more of a love song! Take a listen!

Happy Birthday Keith Urban!

Keith Urban is one of my favorite country artists, I love his music and he is amazing in concert. Getting to meet him when he played at Blossom this summer was definitely a highlight for me and I am super grateful for that opportunity! A few years ago, I blogged my Top 5 Keith songs, so for his birthday I decided to take a look back and see if that list has changed at all since then, because my appreciation for him and his music is always evolving.

Two years ago on his birthday, this is what my Top 5 looked like:

5. "Never Comin' Down"
4. "Somebody Like You"
3. "Where The Blacktop Ends"
2. 'Long Hot Summer"
1. "Stupid Boy"

My #1 choice, I don't think, will ever change. "Stupid Boy" is such a great song, I could always listen to that one on repeat, and hearing it acoustic I love it even more. But, my Top 5 songs have changed slightly as I have continued to listen to his music over the last two years, plus seeing him in concert, and new releases all factoring in, so I'm gonna freshen this up! Of course, everytime I hear "Brown Eyes Baby" I am singing along in the studio or the car, but this list will be prior to his current single!

In honor of Keith's 55th birthday, here are my current Top 5 songs of his:

5. "Wild Hearts"

4. "We Were"

3. "Where The Blacktop Ends"

2. "Who Wouldn't Want To Be Me"

1. "Stupid Boy"

Can I throw in an honorable mention? Sure I can, it's my blog! "Cop Car", the more I listen to that one, the more I love it! Of course, I'll also add the songs I switched out on the old list for the current list. Ahhh, I should have done a Top 10! Anyway, happy birthday, Keith Urban, love your music!

Carrie Underwood just released another single to radio, this one is called "Hate My Heart". This is her second single from her latest project Denim & Rhinestones. Carrie co-wrote the new song with HARDY and songwriters Hillary Lindsey and David Garcia, and is about trying to get over a break up where in her head she is over him, but her heart is not.

Happy Back To The Future Day!

Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads.

Back To The Future is my favorite movie trilogy of all time. For me, it's the concept of time travel, the space/time continuum, and how cool 1955 was. Sounds like the original is my favorite out of all three? It is, but I have all three movies and will watch them back to back at any given time. I will obviously watching them later on today to celebrate Back To The Future Day!

Why this date for Back To The Future Day? Because it was October 21, 2015 that Doc, Marty McFly, and Jennifer Parker traveled to the future in a DeLorean time machine at the begining of Back To The Future II (I won't expand on why, in case of a spoiler for anyone who hasn't seen the movies!). Of course it was a big celebration back in 2015, but celebrated every year leading up to and after that year by fans of the movie.

In researching why screenwriter, Bob Gale, chose October 21, 2015 as the date to time travel in the second installment of the series, he chose it as the date the Chicago Cubs would theoretically win the World Series. As it turns out, he was only one year off, the Cubs would win in 2016. Great Scott!

Also, announced today, Back To The Future: The Musical

Mitchell Tenpenny just earned two #1 singles with his song "Truth About You" and his song with Chris Young "At The End of A Bar", plus he just released his new album 'This Is The Heavy' a little over a month ago. Today, he released his next single to radio, it's called "We Got History".

Mitchell says the song is about that person that you're not hung up on, but you don't have bad feelings for them either and you think about them from time to time. You've moved on, in a new relationship, but from time to time they still come back in a memory. There is no future but there is history, and there will be those flashbacks.
