The weekend is promising to be summer like finally!

The Cleveland Marathon is Sunday...Good luck to all the runners!

If you are like me, it's time for flowers!  My windowboxes have been empty too long.  This is my favorite time of year.

Buying flowers and coloring up the house and yard.  I can't imagine not having them.  The fun is each and every year I do something different.

I never know what my boxes will hold this summer..Get your hands dirty this weekend!

As of 10 am today you can register for the WQMX 5Kay! I am super excited about this event. I ran my first 5K back in August of last year. I was proud I did it and told myself- ok I did it, now I am done. Fast forward to having this idea, naming one after me- I mean 5Kay is just too perfect and raising money for a great cause- Bosom Buddies. Count me in again!

Whether you want to run, walk, skip you can sign up. I would love to see you out there at Forever Fitness in Akron on September 7th. There will be raffles to win Luke Bryan and Rascal Flatts tickets and more fun stuff.

American Idol will be back next season, but there has been some speculation to whether or not the 3 judges will be back.
Luke Bryan says he, Lionel Richie and Katy Perry are in negotiations with ABC, and he's pretty confident that he'll be back. 
He says that being on Idol has been an amazing learning experience, and that he's getting recognized more often because of the show.

Lauren Alaina has a new boyfriend -- comedian John Crist. 
They've been dating since February -- and if you recall, she broke off her engagement with longtime boyfriend Alex Hopkins in January. 
Lauren met John after she responded to one of his Instagram videos.

Thursday night my wife and I took our two youngest, 7 & 10, to see Double Dare Live at the Historic and Beautiful Akron Civic Theater, and what a fun night out!  It was a smaller than expected crowd, as addressed by Marc Summers at the beginning of the show, but that actually worked out well for many, as Summers directed everyone in the Balcony to come down to the main floor, which they gladly did.  There must have been about 100 kids and adults that participated in a variety of "Physical Challenges" that ranged from simple 'frisbee toss' games to some pretty messy ones, like the 'catch an egg and smash it on your own head as many times as possible in 30 seconds'.  that was the first half of the show, then it was time to watch two families play the game just like on TV, with 2 rounds of questions, dares, double dares and more Physical Challenges resulting in the "Red Team" winning the chance to go to the Obstacle Course and even though there may have been a missed flag along the way, they still won the Grand Prize of the night: $1000 in cash!  

My boys were a little disappointed that they didn't get picked to participate, but it was still a fun, nostalgic and entertaining night for the entire audience.  I hadn't been to the Civic in years and forgot how amazing it is in there, we are lucky to have this Gem here in the Rubber City, so if you haven't been in a while, go to a show and get reaquianted with this Historic venue!  I hope to have some pics up on my Facebook Page for you to check out a little later today... after a nap of course.

Maddie & Tae were guests on Pickler & Ben today, they didn't sing their new single "Die From A Broken Heart", but they did talk about a whole lot of things! Like their first (inspiring) encounter with Kellie Pickler, going on tour with Carrie Underwood, and Maddie's upccoming wedding!

It's Memorial Day Weekend this week!  This is a HUGE month for BBQ, as May is National BBQ Month.  I have rediscovered grilling and BBQing this Spring, and I am glad of it.  I kinda took a year off - life is better now. 

Seems I am on the grill a few times a week as Windy and I both enjoy it.  But I do have a few grill rituals that I follow. My favorite is, no matter what you are grilling, there must be sausage on it first!  No matter what else goes on, sausage, keilbasa, brats or some delicious pork product goes on first. I learned this incredible techniqe from my friends, Tim, Ray and Beef, as this is the practice on our Florida golf trips. We eat sausage before we - eat!  The Beautiful Windy was puzzled about it at first, but now she is on board.

We call them "testers." You "test" the grill to make sure all is well, and of course you snack on them as the main course goes on. Plus the dog gets some too. Should be noted, Beef informed me that he and his dog Jack, ate an entire pack of brats last week by themselves! Perfect!   

Its kind of a pre-meal snack, and it's outstanding. I mean you can't just eat a huge steak without having an brat or two first!
