WYNN - Forgotten Jukebox - T-46

One Of Those Things - Pam Tillis - 1991 - (Album - Put Yourself In My Place)

SW small Logo Pam Tillis is one of those singers I can listen to anytime, anywhere.  She is a passionate vocalist that always throws herself deep into the song. This has a very interesting story. When she began her recording career in the mid 80's she had no success. This song was recorded by her in 1985 and released with zero chart success.  Then years later with a new recording deal in a new decade, 1991. She rerecorded it and put it on this album which is technically her second album.  This song is done so powerfully and with such emotion it really hit home with many, including me.  This love and lose song captures the sheer helplessness that can be felt once a great love is lost, and Tillis nails this heartbreaker.  I loved many of her big songs throughout the 1990's where she had real success, but this is the one that really stuck with me.  Great song, exceedingly passionate performance and a big hit, #4 on the charts for her and the rest is history.  Pam Tillis is one of my top choices to sing a power ballad in any era or format.  If you've never heard this song, buckle up, it's powerful.

Off The Field Problems

The Browns have a real off the field problem...

It all started with Deshaun Watson getting his car stolen from a dealership...  The authorities found the culprits and the vehicle in that case.

On Monday Morning, Greg Newsome II, Perrion Winfrey and Demetric Felton all had their cars stolen in downtown Cleveland around 3:30 to 4:30am at gunpoint by 6 people in ski masks.  At least 2 of the vehicles were Hell Cats...  not cheap vehicles by any stretch.

It seems weird that all this happened on the same night/morning.  Glad everyone is okay and made it to mandatory mini-camp today.

The Cleveland Police are working on finding the vehicles and any information.

I always think of this old SNL Sketch "The Chameleon LXE" when a nice luxury car gets stolen. Click Here To See The Skit.  Phil Hartman was so good!

How often do you go?

Today (June 6th) is National Drive-In Movie Day. Remember those? I ask because the number of drive-in theaters is dwindling across the country. When I was young (early-mid 90s), we'd go fairly often on a Saturday night in the Summer to the drive-in. I usually didn't make it to the end of the first movie because even that was past my bedtime...lol.

I may not have been able to fully enjoy it then, but looking back it's a fond memory of packing the family into our minivan with blankets, pillows, etc and spending the evening outside falling asleep to a movie. The thing I really didn't like at the time was getting home so late and then having to wake up to go inside to bed after 2am. I really tried to convince my mom to just let me crash in the car for the night.

If you have kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews who have never been to the drive-in...try to take them this year so they can experience something that might not be around much longer.

Colossal-log 1: Day's 1 and 2!

I was on vacation last week! Each year, I go to Colossalcon, one of the largest Anime conventions in the midwest. I'll be real, I'm not super into anime, but there's so much you can do that it's not a huge deal if you're into it or not! I thought I'd log my adventures.

Wednesday night was badge pick up night! Not a lot to do, but I did go to a bit of a speed-friending event to get to know some people after grabbing my badge! It was nice to meet some new friendly faces. After that my group and I perused a gaming market. I found mothman (!!!) and snapped a pic with me. We headed out and packed that night for the weekend to come!

Thursday was when stuff. Got. Real. I donned my first cosplay for the week, Stevonnie from Steven Universe. We got there a little after noon and got our bearings. I went to a panel where I learned how to write my name in Japanese. Then we walked around the craft fair where vendors sell the crafts they've made. I got a few cute lil animals and some Fallout gear! We checked out cosplay chess, where cosplayers move as chess pieces on a board! I also attended a FREAKING WEDDING!!! Two strangers I've never met invited attendees to see them tie the knot. The ceremony was short and sweet, but beautiful! Then we headed to a panel about the Super Mario Bros movie from 1993! (I'll probably talk about that movie some other time lol, but we have a history.) We then checked into our hotel and came back to the resort to go to the water park! There was a rave in the waves, a hot tub, and the lazy river. We also went on 2 slides!

Stay tuned to see where our adventures took us next!

Jon Pardi - Heartache On The Dance Floor -  2017

SW small Logo Jon Pardi really hit the big time with his incredible 2016 album, California Sunrise.  I think it's one of the best albums of this young century and this was one of the amazing singles off it.  Pardi is one of our traditionalists whose music strongly resonates with those who are wanting to make sure country stays on a truer path. This song zings along with a fast pace, is incredibly catchy and totally memorable. Once it gets in your head it stays there and you can't help but sing with it.  Of the Pardi library so far, this is my favorite.  I have loved virtually all the singles from this album and subsequent ones as I feel Pardi has the right idea.  He makes traditional country very cool even for those who lean more pop country at their core, and at the exact same moment reassures deep country fans that everything is alright and on track.  There's something about Pardi in the sum of all that he is, musically, in style and image that you root for.  If you love this song and haven't heard this entire album, you should. I applaud Jon Pardi.  After a slower start than some others, he bravely stuck with it and in time hit it out of the park with this number one album and the singles from it  -  all top five.  It has sold millions. Well done!

Such a nice day!!!

I wish this was me driving around today. It was such a nice drive into work this afternoon! I had all 4 windows all the way down, and my car said about 72-74 degrees outside! This was a perfect day to have a convertible...comfortable, no humidity, some sunshine. Sadly all I can do is roll my windows down and pretend...I don't even have a sun/moonroof.

If you are lucky enough to have a convertible (and I saw a few of you), take full advantage and enjoy it!
