He is back home and doing okay

Written by

My little guy Buttercup is back home after an eventful couple of weeks. This all started a couple months ago when I noticed changes in his behavior. I took him to the doctor and he was diagnosed as being Diabetic. Fast forward to last week, and I was finally able to start him on a medicine that he did not react well to.

So a couple of trips to the doctor later, on Friday night this past weekend I saw he was really doing bad. I took him into the hospital this past Saturday where he ended up staying 4 days until being released to come home this afternoon. He was getting into Ketoacidosis which is fatal if not treated quickly. I have already lost one cat to that, so I was desperate not to have it happen again.

Luckily, I got him to the hospital in time. He's now home, on some medicines and looking to schedule a follow-up appointment with his primary care doctor.

I do have to say a BIG THANK YOU to MedVet Hospital in Copley - they did an EXCELLENT job with him as well as keeping me informed twice a day! Always watch those fur kids carefully...they aren't able to tell you exactly what is wrong.
