Eric Matthews
Born and raised in the Akron area, Eric knew from an early age he wanted to work in radio. After high school he went on to The University of Toledo and graduated with a degree in Broadcast Communications.
After graduating from The Ohio Center for Broadcasting, Eric joined Rubber City Radio Group in 2013 as a Sports Producer for 1590 WAKR. He added on-air duties at WQMX in December 2018 and became the weekday overnight personality in December 2019. Currently, you can hear Eric weekday evenings from 7pm - Midnight!
Eric also taught Drivers Education to high school students across Northeast Ohio for 4 years. In his spare time he loves to travel and spend time with family and friends. He is also a huge Guardians, Cavs, and college football fan. A huge animal lover, Eric has 1 cat named Buttercup.
With today being June 1st, it's the OFFICIAL unofficial start of Summer :)!!!! Today is the climatological first day of Summer!!! Vacations, days at the beach, Cedar Point, no school...I could go on. I CANNOT imagine being underwater, doing your thing as a scubadiver and having this face looking back at you! DANG!!!! Apparently that's what happened to an unlucky guy in Australia. The guy had his head bitten down on by a Saltwater Crocodile. It's bad enough to worry about sharks, but crocs too?! No thank you. I'll just stick to the swimming pool. This is the Rhododendron next to my front door at home. My mom bought the house in 1978 and this plant was already there...so this thing is at least 45 years old!
