Mmmm, Cookies!

Written by

I had a great weekend, and I sincerely hope that you did too. Amongst all of the fun and activities, my fiancée and I visited with my mother on both Saturday and Sunday. Together, they spent hours baking cookies and making memories, and the smell of holiday joy filled the house. I was in and out helping my buddy move into his new place, and each time I returned it seemed like they had three new varieties- with one being mixed, one going into the oven, and a third cooling off! They made a ton of delicious confections, from gingerbread to butterballs.

One of the best parts about having made so many yummy cookies is the ability to share them with others and spread the holiday jubilations. The pastry partners behind all the magic in the kitchen were kind enough to put together a tray with an assortment of cookies for me to bring into work here at the station. I know I've sure snacked on some good stuff around these parts, so I'm happy to reciprocate the generosity. Hopefully, it serves as a little Monday pick me-up munching on some sweets!

Let me throw this towards you now. Have you been gearing up for Christmas with any family traditions? Maybe you've done some caroling, binged your favorite holiday movies, volunteered in some way, posed for a matching photo, or decorated the tree/house together. Friends and family are what's important around this time of year, so make sure to share experiences with those you love.

I'm really happy my Mackenzie has replaced me in assisting my mom with all the mixing, shaping, baking, and icing. I begrudgingly participated in the process, but no more! I'll stick to eating the cookies. I'm so grateful they get along well with each other, and I know my future wife enjoys learning the secrets from my mom's deep well of recipes. It fills my heart with joy and fills my stomach with festive treats.
