Through my years in school, I took many Spanish classes to learn the foreign language. That continued into college, up to Spanish IV, and it was in those courses especially that I came to know more about the different cultures and their histories. 

The Day of the Dead, or El Día de los Muertos, became a favorite topic for me, and that holiday starts today, November 1st. It's so interesting how it's a mix of celebration and mourning, and there's many traditions to mark the occasion.
