Joe Headley

staff tim homeJoe is an enthusiastic young talent in radio who is living the dream as a personality on his favorite station, WQMX! Joe got his start in college serving as the Production Director for the University of Akron's Z88, and his love for live and local radio has since skyrocketed. He was brought on as an intern for RCRG in 2022 working as a weekend jock and member of the street team in promotions until landing the overnight position on WQMX.

Joe is a lifelong local to the Akron/Canton area. Outside of the studio, he has a love for boating, fishing, disc golf, and off-roading. He is the proud owner of a classic American muscle car, and the toughest decision he faces on a sunny day is whether to drive his Chevy or ride his motorcycle. Fun fact: Joe LOVES grape flavor.

Joe strives to make a connection with his audience and is authentically himself in any setting. Country music holds a special place in his heart, and he relishes being at concerts and community events engaging with listeners and having a great time!
For years, my dentist has advised that I have my wisdom teeth removed before they become a problem and well, they've become a problem. The teething and shooting pains I could usually handle, but something happened during my overnight on-air shift last week that sent me over the edge. I broke off part of my wisdom tooth while eating a bag of Skittles. It was horrifying, and I apologize if even the thought of this…

We're Jammin'

Written by
My fiancée and I sometimes like to try new versions of the foods we normally eat, whether it's switching up the brand or maybe the flavor variety. We don't know which queso out that we like best until we try around, for example, and the same could be said for just about anything in our refrigerator/pantry. On our most recent shopping trip together, we needed to pick up a certain purple spread to go with…

My Top Ten: Actors

Written by
I'm generally not deep into Hollywood and keeping up with its celebrities, but with the current controversy over this year's Oscars nominations list, I figure now is as good a time as ever to discuss actors and actresses. My favorite movies go hand-in-hand with the people on this list, naturally. As you'll discover, I'm a fan of the comedy genre best, but I enjoy just about any film with a decent storyline.  I hardly know any…

Ol' Betsy

Written by
Back in 1999, my parents welcomed three big changes into their lives. There was a newborn baby in the crib, a puppy dog in the back yard, and a brand new full-size pickup truck in the driveway. I was the baby, the canine was our beloved all-white German Shepard named Molly, and the truck... well, that's the topic of this blog!  She's a three-door 1999 Chevrolet Silverado LT 2wd with the 5.3, affectionately dubbed Ol' Betsy.…

You Still Have Time!

The Inaugural WQMX Winter Euchre Tournament is just around the corner, and if you're a fan of the classic card game like me, then be sure to get yourself signed up to participate before it's too late! I was personally reassured that I'm a solid partner with a victorious game just yesterday amongst friends from the station. I play boldly and felt synergy with my partner's style, and of course we sure got some help…

A No-Go

Riding powersports on the ice is a surreal experience. It's just you, your machine, and a massive slippery flatland from shore to shore. Even when the ice is collectively deemed safe to be on, it truly never is. The conditions are frigid and that's only amplified when you're zipping along going forty plus in the open air. On top of that, there's the risk of collisions and wrecks, such as someone catching a bad angle…

Joe Plow

After a mild start to the winter, it seems as though we are finally set to get a substantial amount of snow going into the weekend. Some areas are forecasted to get six or more inches of accumulation throughout Friday, and I'm thrilled! I love the snow. I actually adore driving in it and slip sliding around, and sledding is always a blast too. Another thing I do when we get a heavy blanket, is…

My Top Ten: Colors!

Written by
For this week's Top Ten list, I'm keeping it simple. I typically gravitate towards ranking different types of food or media for these blogs, but everything and anything is a potential topic, so I'm excited to get into this one about colors!  Naturally, it often depends on the context when we decide what colors we like best. Maybe you'd want a birthday cake with teal icing but would never paint your bedroom walls in that…

Snow Day!

Written by
For many school children here in Northeast Ohio, Wednesday is a calamity day. It's technically not a snow day since the closures are due to the extreme cold from windchills beyond negative ten degrees in the morning time, but I'll call it one anyways. It's all in the name of safety, as we just cannot have kids freezing solid as they wait for the bus or walk to class. It's a good call, in my…

What's on the Tube?

Written by
It is just so cold outside. Despite my constant desire to be out participating in one of the many outdoor activities I enjoy, like riding my four-wheeler or playing disc golf, I've sought refuge from the bitter temperatures and cutting winds inside the house. I was out riding when it was in the 30's and can surely tolerate colder, but this is just a little too extreme for me. Normal winter weather hardly puts a…
