WYNN - SONG OF THE WEEK - Next Girl

Written by

I have always had a deep respect for those acts that come along that are country, and make an ongoing pledge to remain so. That is this weeks star.

Here comes Carly Pearce, and that's her.  And her new song is another good one.  A couple of months ago, Sarah Kay and I interviewed her on our show, and she said a number of very cool things, (she was a great interview) but the one that really stood out to me was this.  She said  -  "I am country, I want to be a country singer, and record country songs."  Love that.

Her new song, Next Girl is a darn good one. Nicely and simply arranged -  borderline acoustic, to let her be the star, and this is a country song. I could hear many of the all-time greats singing this song like Loretta, or Dolly, or a ton of artists from the 90's too, say Holly Dunn, or Pam Tillis come to mind.  This written song is absolutely timeless.  Written by Carly, this teams up very well with her recent songs, I Hope You're Happy Now (With Lee Brice) and even Hide The Wine, and Every Little Thing. It's a song of gentle warning to the next girl in line who might fall for her ex, that he's maybe not quite who you think he it.  It's honest, it's not angry, ugly bitter, or bashing.

Her duet with Brice is up for a few awards, and it would be great to see her get that done. That song is one of the best songs of the past few years.  She's had a great year or two, and I'm proud to be a fan.

If you really haven't heard this yet, grab a coffee, and take a listen. There's a lot to like with this song.
