WYNN - COUNTRY MUSIC MEMORY LANE - Atlanta!

Written by
Whitney sent me a note asking about a song she hears when line dancing. She thinks it's called, Sweet Country Music.  Well yes, it was a BIG  hit, from a band called Atlanta! Seldom has a country band come out with expectations as lofty as theirs.  Almost as large as the band itself, which had 9 members. They had a big, full sound and many in Nashville thought they were going to be THE band…

WYNN - Fantastic Catches!!

Written by
Over the weekend, the Beautiful Windy and I were watching the Tribe game on TV, and we saw Delino DeShields Jr., make a GREAT catch in the outfield. Big dive, full speed running, laying out for it.  Tribe announcer Rick Manning says, "That's just a fantastic catch!!!"   I've heard that saying about a thousand times, but for some reason this weekend it resonated. When I was 11 or so, me and about 3 neighborhood kids…

WYNN - Country Music Women

Written by
For the past couple months, I've written articles entitled Country Music Memory Lane on Thursdays.  In each one I feature a Country star from years ago.  I wanted to do this for a few reasons.  One -It's fun to look back on what I remember from my seat behind the mic in 41 years so far in Country Radio.  And Two, I think it helps fans find out how we got here, to the best…

WYNN - Country Music Memory Lane - John Anderson

Written by
Roger sent a note asking about his favorite from long ago, John Anderson.  Roger, there was a time he was many people's favorite and what an interesting career he had.  I played all his songs on radio stations around the country.  John Anderson's gift in addition to the music, was being a MAJOR musical influence on the stars that would follow. John Anderson came up during the Urban Cowboy craze, but his sound was anything…

WYNN - EAT! - Carle's Bratwurst

Written by
The Beautiful Windy and I took a short weekend away to a very remote bed and breakfast in Bucyrus, Ohio over the weekend.  We learned so much.  First, where it actually was, as it is about 40 minutes west of Mansfield on Route 30. (Yes the same Route 30 that runs through Canton and Wooster) And second, it is the Bratwurst capital of the world.  Is that actually FACT?  I don't know, and don't care.…

WYNN - LOCAL BIZ - Szalay's Farm And Market

Written by
I had the joy of going to Szalay's Farm And Market last week with Windy, and I can't wait to go back.  Truth is, I love that place and places like it. Those small markets that have the best of everything, and specialize in something for which they have no equal. The corn there is amazing. I am not one of those peeps that can saw down a dozen ears of corn in a single…

WYNN - Strike One, You're OUT!

Written by
Over the weekend, Tribe pitcher Zac Plesac threw a gem in Chicago.  6 shutout ininngs in a Tribe win, and then went out to celebrate. The Tribe found out and sent him home for 2 weeks, as he broke the rules. Word is too, they made him rent his own car and drive home to Cleveland, keeping him off the team plane, sending a message that rules are the rules. Story Here!

WYNN - Country Music Memory Lane - Sylvia

Written by
A great listener Lisa sent me a message stating when she was 7, her favorite song was Nobody by Sylvia.  She asked if I played it on the radio and if I remembered her. Yes, and very much yes. Sylvia was a huge sensation in the early 1980's.  She had an incredibly, powerful and versatile voice that sounded as good on stage as on albums.  She was very likeable, more than beautiful, and helped Country…
