Call On Me - Tanya Tucker - 1989 -  (Album - Strong Enough To Bend)   Tanya Tucker still has an incredible following afteR ALL these decades.  Breaking through at age 13 in the early 1970's she had a real nice resurgence that began in the mid and late 80's and continued for some very good years helping country launch a huge decade.  She also at that time recorded maybe the best music of her…
Jake Owen - Down To The Honky Tonk - 2018 This is perfect for Jake Owen.  On the air I've quipped that this is the "greatest song ever written."  OK, clearly overstated. But it's spot on for the kind of song that sets us apart from every other kind of music.  Not many are willing to have this kind of levity and take shots at ourselves by stating in song that having enough, is simply…

WYNN - My Sunday Morning Song!

Cody Johnson is on a roll right now in the fact that he is recording and releasing songs that really resonate with many listeners.  The chart success is what it is.  It's good but not as strong as our listeners passion for some of his songs. But this new song is just another in a nice line of highly relatable songs that have real feel.  This song is pretty darn good and I feel you…

WYNN - COUNTRY MUSIC MEMORY LANE - The Keyboardists

It is well known that most country stars play the guitar.  Some like Brad Paisley, Keith Urban and Vince Gill are very proficient at it, and it's a real part of what they do.  Others, simply play rhythm portions of their songs in concert. Then there are those where, well... it's a mere prop and that's fine too. There are far fewer that play the piano.  But there are a few and for them,…

Guitar Town - Steve Earle - 1986 - (Album - Guitar Town) Steve Earle was and is a talented guy.  His incredible album, Copperhead Road  (1988) is the stuff of legend. It's worth a search and listen as it has been highly influential to many, many young country artists.   But a few years before that was this terrific #1 Country album.  Guitar Town  (song) was a top ten hit with two Grammy nominations for…

WYNN - #18 - Suzy Bogguss - Drive South

Suzy Bogguss - Drive South  -  1992 I couldn't wait for this song to come up.  I am a big Suzy Bogguss fan, and I have stated before that she is one of the best pure singers I have ever heard in any kind of music over my 40 plus years behind the mic.  Her voice is simply perfect, and her versatility is incredible.  This song was a bit different for her then.  Until this,…
